Through realism, writers explains things without sugar coating. Realism occurred between 1880-1914. The main cause of why realism started is because of the Civil war and the action of science. Realism soon came to an end because of the action of the World War One.

As realism was starting to expand, industrial business were starting to do the same. Because of the expansion of the industrial businesses that meant more people needed to work in the factories, so the growth of people grew too. As the workers started to work in the factories and get comfortable, the workers started to get treated badly, and the workers started to realize.
